Queer Purgatory celebrates Charles Harbison's fashion comeback with an immersive show blending fashion and sound. The intergenerational event spotlights Queer artists of color in the fashion industry, emphasizing sustainable design. The ecosystem created for the celebration challenges traditional art consumption, featuring Harbison, known for dressing icons like Michelle Obama and Beyonce alongside other queer designers of color who promote culture and sustainability as integral pillars of their work.

Nicole Zizi, a NYC-based designer, transforms classic silhouettes using denim, reclaimed materials and vegan leathers. Cisco Sews from Phoenix, AZ, offers a fully sustainable line crafted completely from up-cycled materials and found objects. Maya Bialek, a Chinese-American fashion student based in Boston, infuses her designs with her Chinese heritage often working with unusual fabrics.

The show features a soundscape of queer poets and spoken word artists exploring themes of rebirth and limitless possibilities, prompting reflection on the absence of conventional constraints in our lives.

“What if the things that have ruled our lives don’t exist? What are the endless possibilities yet undiscovered within you?”
